ABOUT US

​The Society for Women in Business (SWIB), affiliated with Cornell's Dyson School, is the largest undergraduate business organization for women at Cornell, connecting students of all majors with each other and with professional leaders in the business world.

 

We aim to empower talented and intelligent women through education and experience. Through research projects, panels, speaker events, skill-building workshops, and networking events, our goal is to provide our members with the tools to help them advance both personally and professionally.​

Shayna Chacko

Co-President

Applied Economics and Management '22

Shayna is a junior studying Applied Economics and Management. In addition to being on SWIB's executive board, she is involved in Phi Gamma Nu professional business fraternity, Cornell Finance Club, and Big Red Raas. This past summer, she conducted research with a Cornell finance professor, and this coming summer, she is excited to work as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Bank of America. Her hobbies include playing volleyball, hiking, and reading!

Ann Maris Walton

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

Communication and Business '22

Ann Maris Walton is a junior from Jacksonville, Florida studying Communication and Business in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Last year, Ann Maris served as Vice President of Alumnae Relations and Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion. This past summer, Ann Maris worked as a Research and Development Intern at Elanco Animal Health. Ann Maris’s interests include NPR’s How I Built this, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and contemporary art.

Jessica Liu

VP of Corporate Affairs

College of Arts and Sciences

Economics '23

Jessica is a sophomore from Pennsylvania majoring in Economics in the College of Arts & Sciences. She is currently also involved in Social Business Consulting, Cornell Fashion Collective, and Alpha Chi Omega. This past summer, she interned at a political consulting firm and joined the Birchbox business development team for a month. In her free time, she rescues produce through the Farmlink Project, jogs around natural parks, and reads mystery books for fun.

June Kwak 

VP of Finance

Applied Economics and Management '23

June Kwak and is a sophomore in Dyson studying finance. She is originally from the suburbs of Washington, DC and it’s definitely one of her favorite cities! Outside of SWIB, she is also on the e-board for alpha Kappa Delta Phi and is the founding president of CHAARG. One interesting thing about June is that she is obsessed with reaching her 10,000 step count everyday and has maintained a streak for almost 2 years!

Avery Somma 

VP of Marketing

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

Communication and Business '22

Avery Somma is a junior from Houston, TX majoring in Communication with a concentration in Information Technologies. She is also pursuing a double minor in business and fashion. Outside of SWIB, she is the Co-VP of Marketing for The Women's Network at Cornell, a member of Delta Kappa Alpha, and hopes to work for the WVBR-FM radio this semester. Avery enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with friends and family during her free time.

Ashley Blatt

VP of Alumnae Affairs

Applied Economics and Management '23

Ashley Blatt is a sophomore from Long Island, NY, majoring in Applied Economics and Management. In addition to serving as the VP of Alumnae Affairs, she is also on the Events Team for Life Changing Labs as well as the Fundraising Chair of the Joint Distribution Committee. Last summer, she participated in the Bootcamp Entrepreneurship Program through ORIGIN as well as the Goldman Sachs Virtual Insight Series. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Tracy Shi

Tracy is a sophomore from Los Angeles, California majoring in Hotel Administration. In addition to serving on SWIB's Executive Board, she is a Board of Director for CREC Consulting, Chief Operating Officer for Smart Woman Securities, and a member of the Cornell Real Estate Club. This past summer, she worked at a startup company in the Business Development and Quality Assurance team. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and drawing.

Gabby Lau

Co-VP of Internal Development

Applied Economics and Management '23

Gabby is a sophomore from Summit, New Jersey majoring in Applied Economics and Management. In addition to serving as Co-VP of Internal Development for SWIB, she is involved in Cornell Financial Analysts, Cornell Venture Capital, and Social Enterprise at Cornell. This coming summer she is excited to work as a Debt Strategies Summer Analyst for a real estate private equity firm. During her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee shops, hiking, and traveling.

Samantha Rothman 

VP of Community Affairs

Industrial and Labor Relations '23

Samantha is a sophomore majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations and pursuing minors in business and inequality studies. In addition to serving as the VP of Community Affairs of SWIB, she is a COVID 19 peer consultant, and is involved in SHRM and the ILR Women’s Caucus. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing golf, and doing puzzles!

Elena Ault

VP of Diversity and Inclusion

College of Arts and Sciences

Economics '24

Elena Ault is a freshman from Fairfield, Connecticut majoring in Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a scholar in the Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity, a cross-disciplinary program in technology and innovation. Elena is also a Meinig Family Cornell National Scholar, a designation given to fewer than 2% of Cornell students who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential. In addition to serving as VP of Diversity and Inclusion of SWIB, Elena is a Project Manager for Cornell Angel Partners. In her free time, she likes to exercise, bake, and spend time with friends and family.
